Author Guidelines
KIJOHNS Journal welcomes submissions of original research articles, review papers, clinical studies, and case reports in otology, rhinology, laryngology, head and neck surgery, audiology and related domains of otolaryngology.
All manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal.
Types of Articles Accepted
- Original Research Articles
- Review Articles
- Case Reports
- Short Communications
- Clinical Studies
Manuscript Structure
Original research articles should follow the numbered structure below. Other article types accepted by the journal (review articles, case reports, short communications, clinical studies) may use different main headings appropriate to the format; if unsure, follow your study design and the editor’s instructions.
For typical .docx original-research submissions, the system checks for the main section headings and basic formatting hints at upload; this does not replace editorial review and may miss issues in unusual layouts—authors remain responsible for full compliance.
- Title Page
- Abstract (150–250 words)
- Keywords (3–6 keywords)
- Introduction
- Materials and Methods
- Statistical Analysis and Review of Results (include when applicable to the study)
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- References
Figures and tables: Do not place all tables and figures together at the end of the manuscript. Embed each table and figure in the body of the article where it is first cited (near the relevant text), with clear captions (e.g. “Table 1.”, “Figure 1.”).
Formatting Requirements
- File format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) only
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font size: 12 pt
- Line spacing: 1.5
- Margins: 1 inch on all sides
- References should follow Vancouver style (full citation text is normal—website links are optional). If the journal enables it, uploads may run automated checks: optional DOI lookup (Crossref) and/or a Google Programmable Search pass that compares your pasted reference text to top search results—neither proves the citation is the right paper or that numbering matches the text.
- Figures and tables: inline in the main text at the appropriate location—not bundled only at the end of the file
Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo an initial editorial review. Suitable manuscripts are then sent to expert reviewers for a double-blind peer review process.
Based on reviewer comments, the editor may request revisions, accept the manuscript, or reject the submission.
If the editorial office invites you to an optional structured correction workspace, reviewers may have accepted machine-assisted language suggestions and/or flagged passages that need revision with short explanations. In that case you address those items in the tool as instructed, in addition to responding to narrative comments—completing accepted structured items may be required before resubmission when that workflow is active. The workspace does not replace your obligation to revise the manuscript thoroughly or to follow all editor and reviewer feedback outside the tool.
For full details, see our Editorial and Peer Review Policy.
