Open Access & Publishing Policies
How KIJOHNS fulfils the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) definition of open access
Open access policy
KIJOHNS is a fully open access journal. The copyright holder of each scholarly work grants usage rights under an open license (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International, CC BY 4.0, or equivalent). This allows immediate, free access to the full text of every research article without embargo.
- Full text of all research articles is available online at no charge.
- There is no embargo period on published content.
- Readers are not required to register to read or download articles.
- Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, crawl, and reuse articles for any lawful purpose, subject to the license terms below.
Aims and scope
KIJOHNS (Karnataka International Journal of Otolaryngology and Head–Neck Surgery) publishes peer-reviewed research in otology, rhinology, laryngology, head and neck surgery, audiology, and related fields. Our primary audience is researchers and clinical practitioners.
Licensing terms
Unless otherwise stated on an individual article, published research articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) .
You are free to share and adapt the work provided you give appropriate credit, indicate if changes were made, and do not apply legal terms that restrict others from doing anything the license permits.
Copyright
Published articles: Authors retain copyright of their work. By publishing in KIJOHNS, authors grant the journal and readers the rights described in the CC BY 4.0 license above. Open access articles are not published under “all rights reserved.”
Journal website: The design, branding, and non-article content of this website are © Association of Otolaryngologists of Karnataka / KIJOHNS editorial office. Website copyright is separate from article copyright and does not restrict reuse of published articles under their open license.
Author charges
KIJOHNS does not charge authors any fees. There are no submission fees, editorial processing charges, article processing charges (APCs), page charges, colour charges, or withdrawal fees.
If this policy changes in future, all applicable fees and any waiver conditions will be published here before they take effect.
Self-archiving and repository policy
Authors may deposit all versions of their work in institutional or subject repositories without embargo:
- Preprint (before journal peer review)
- Author’s accepted manuscript (AAM)
- Version of record (VoR), as published by KIJOHNS
We recommend including the DOI of the published version when depositing an accepted manuscript or preprint.
Archiving
KIJOHNS is committed to long-term availability of published content. Article PDFs and metadata are hosted on durable infrastructure; we recommend authors and libraries also preserve copies through recognised archives (for example the Internet Archive or services listed in the Keepers Registry).
Use of artificial intelligence and automated tools
Authors
- Disclose use of generative AI in preparing the article, beyond straightforward language correction, editing, and formatting.
- Remain responsible for the validity of any automated tool output used in the research and manuscript.
- Automated tools cannot be credited as authors; generative AI cannot be cited as a source.
Peer reviewers and editors
- Must not use generative AI to draft confidential peer-review reports.
- Any routine automated tools used by the journal (for example similarity screening) are overseen by editorial staff.
- See also our Editorial and peer-review policy.
